Many of us known the story of the Underground Railroad and the women who significantly contributed to it’s continuation, Harriet Tubman. She did more than we thought! Harriet Tubman was an African-American woman who was enslaved like nearly every black person in the United States of America. She managed to escape and achieve her freedom. She did not however go and live her life as easy as possible. She bravely crusaded on the behalf of all those innocent people forced to endure slavery despite the great risk to her own life. Harriet had endured years in captivity and understood the mistreatment, abuse, neglect, and downright horror others faced so she created the Underground Railroad. No, it was not tunnels in the ground with a train. It was a system and network, a group of people who helped other slaves escape and gain freedom.
